“I said I can do it.” Knuckles white with the grip he had on the wheels, Taber scowled at him, daring him to take one step closer. The mood in the room went quickly from joking to defensive and cold.
Deacon sighed and advanced to stand behind Taber, putting his hands on the handles to steer him.
The stubborn man jerked hard on the wheels, and Deacon stumbled when Taber shot forward out of reach. Deacon caught up with Taber outside the man’s bedroom door.
“Will you just accept my help?” Deacon shouted, exasperation coloring his words.
