Blurb for Grey’s Hidden Fire:

Grey’s entire life is wrapped around his job as a firefighter. It’s all he has ever wanted. That is until his new coworker Mica Cruz saunters through the door with his smoldering dark looks and dimpled grin. Suddenly Grey finds himself wanting to get to know what Mica looks like out of his gear and between the sheets.

Mica has one rule: he keeps his work life and his personal life separate. It’s easy enough to follow until he meets Grey and finds his rule can’t stand up to the fire that Grey ignites. There’s one big thing standing in the way of all of his lust-filled musings. Grey is straight.

In a profession where being gay is often kept quiet Grey must come to terms with his growing attraction to Mica. How much is he willing to sacrifice, and can they come together before someone’s hatred threatens to destroy them both?

SPICY excerpt

Mica walked into the dark room that contained two bunk beds. Grey’s huddled form made a silhouette against the darkness on one of the lower bunks, and Mica stretched out on the other. Grey’s shifting sent the sounds of a creaky mattress across the small space.

“Are you gay?” Grey’s words shattered the silence with their quiet intensity.

Mica felt like all the air had been sucked from the room. No one had ever out-and-out asked him if he was gay. He was fairly certain it was because he didn’t look like the stereotypical gay man. He also didn’t act like what his coworkers had always described as a gay man. He wasn’t effeminate. They were never cruel, but there was a level of mocking when they spoke about the topic. The reaction to the answer to this one question could screw his whole world up, but he didn’t feel like he could lie to Grey.

“Yes,” he responded in a low voice. He held his breath and waited for some kind of verbal or physical explosive response. There was nothing, just the soft sound of Grey’s breath.

“Was I any good?” Grey asked.

Mica sat up and stared into the darkness, his mouth hanging open. “What?” he asked in a loud whisper.

“In your fantasy, I must have been pretty good, right?” There was humor in the other man’s voice. Humor, but not ridicule.

“Yeah, you were pretty good,” Mica conceded. He lay back on his bed and laughed softly. “You were really good.”

“Is that what you are? Dominant?”

“What do you mean?”

“I…” Grey hesitated. “Are you a top?”

Mica snickered and smiled broadly at Grey for having the courage to ask that kind of question. “Yes and no.”

Grey chuckled. “How does that work?”

“I wouldn’t mind bottoming for the right guy,” Mica confessed. He had never said that to anyone. He had actually never bottomed, but if given a chance with Grey…he’d be tempted.

“Oh…” Grey murmured.

Mica glared hard into the darkness. He wished he could look into Grey’s eyes, see what was in Grey’s mind. It was damn difficult to judge what a man was thinking simply by the tone of his voice. Grey didn’t seem to have much of a problem with Mica’s being gay. If anything, he sounded intrigued.

“I take it you’re straight?” Mica asked.

The weight of the silence was heavy. Had Grey gone to sleep that quickly? Mica wanted to get up and turn on the light, but he didn’t think Grey would appreciate it. It would feel too much like a spotlight during an interrogation.

“Yes,” Grey admitted. Although the brief moment of hesitation was curious.

“Thank you, then, for not freaking out about earlier,” Mica said into the void. His face heated at the words. He wanted to add to that, but he didn’t know what to say. Apologizing for using someone to get off was a new thing to him. In his early days of coming out he’d had his one-night stands with no apology. Somehow this entire situation held a higher level of intimacy. Maybe it was the sharing of secret thoughts in the dark.

Grey shuffled. “Mica?”

“Yeah?”

“What was I doing?”

Mica’s eyes widened. He couldn’t have heard that right, or he’d processed it incorrectly. “Huh?”

“I mean, what was your… What was the whole fantasy?”

Mica had to sit up to hear the whispered words. “In the shower?”

“Yeah.” Grey sighed. “I mean, I know I was…I mean…in the end…sucking…”

Mica could practically feel the heat of the other man blushing across the room.

“Are you seriously asking for the setting of my jack-off session?” Mica chuckled.

“Well, when you say it like that…” Grey’s voice filled with discomfort. “I guess it was an odd question. Never mind.”

Grey sounded mortified. Mica didn’t know what drove Grey to ask the question, but Mica wanted to share the fantasy with him. After all, Grey had asked. No one could fault him for handing over information that had been requested.

Mica lay back and closed his eyes. “You came into the locker room as I was taking off my T-shirt. You wanted to know if I needed any help cleaning up, or if I had any pain from the fire.”

He paused to see if Grey would stop him. If Grey had changed his mind about wanting to know Mica’s hot fantasy. A fantasy where Grey was the star. He heard nothing but Grey’s breathing. “Are you with me?”

“Yes.”

If Mica hadn’t been listening so closely, he wouldn’t have heard the response.

“Okay, so I told you my shoulder was really hurting from when I pushed against the door frame to make it outside. You came up behind me and ran your fingers over my shoulders, massaging. I could detect the faintest touch on my neck, where it felt like you’d kissed me. My cock twitched, and I barely managed to keep from groaning. You felt my body tense, so you pulled away and turned me around. You asked if I was okay, if I needed any other help.” His voice became hoarse with arousal.

“That’s when you looked down and saw my cock, rock hard against my briefs. You reached down to lightly stroke it through the fabric and asked if I required help taking care of any other special needs.”

Grey chuckled softly and said, “Sounds like a line from a porn video.”

“Well, it is a fantasy. Give me a break.” Mica laughed. “Anyway, of course I was shocked by your offer, but so fucking hard because your hand was stroking my dick that I nodded. You pushed my briefs down and wrapped your fingers around my cock. Your hand felt amazing. It was so warm and rough. I rocked my hips into it.” His cock leaked. The arousal was ten times what it had been in the shower. Describing the fantasy for Grey was hotter than he could have imagined.

“And?” Grey asked, his voice ragged.

Mica propped himself up on his elbow. Was it his imagination, or did Grey sound turned on?

“Then you swiped your finger over the head of my dick, getting a drop of precum. You brought it to your lips and sucked it off. You told me it tasted sweet and salty and that you wanted more.”

Grey’s breath came faster from across the room. Holy shit. Just the thought of Grey getting hot from the fantasy was enough to make Mica’s cock throb.

“Then what?” Grey whispered.

Hop for Visibility Awareness and Equality

HAPHOBIAUMBRELLA2016

Welcome to my blog and thank you for your support in hopping Visibility Awareness and Equality! It is so important that we show our love and support to every amazing individual in the phenomenal rainbow that is our community. 🙂 So this May 17th (and every day after), take the time to celebrate our differences!

Love is Love. Those three words are simple, but so powerful. There is a liberty found within those words. There are no boundaries to the emotions that we experience. Rather, there are no expectations of how we should feel and how we shouldn’t. That freedom is one of the elements I most enjoy as a writer of m/m erotic novels. I craft stories that bring to life love and lust without constraints.

I’ve had the great joy of opening the eyes of some of my friends over the past years. Out of support they have read my books and found themselves intrigued and enthralled by the tales. Soon, they were buying more and more books in the m/m genre and finding it led to much sleep deprivation. I was happy to be the catalyst to their education when it came to illustrating the beauty of love no matter the gender combination.

Yet, I know there is still a great many minds to be pried open and so I will continue to write. It helps that I have a blast penning each book. At the end of the day humans are a confusing bunch and I thought I’d end this short blog with a little  fun quote from my book Between the Lies, Club Syn book 1:

“Love stories are timeless.” He tried the answer and found it did indeed hold a vein of truth.

“They are timeless, but what you wrote wasn’t a love story,” Graham stated. “There was no passion in your words. Do you have the paper with you?”

Spencer nodded and suppressed a twinge of pain brought on by Graham’s continued negativity. After digging through the bag he had next to his feet, he pulled out the paper from his binder and passed the evil document to Graham.

Graham snagged it and flipped through the sheets. “Ah, here. You simply describe him seeing the other man. ‘He saw him looking at him.’” Graham sighed. “This is a huge area where you could add a spike of need in the reader. He doesn’t just look at him. He feels the gaze like a physical caress on his skin, bringing to life sensations he has never known before.”

The way Spencer had felt the first time Ebony had looked at him, like he wanted to eat him up. Oh, yes, he understood exactly what a young Juliet—or in his story, Roman—would be experiencing even if he hadn’t written it that way.

“Can you see it?” Graham asked. “Need. Desire. Those raw sensations should grab you. Writing is about more than punctuation and grammar. It’s about having a voice that speaks to the reader. In this scene, your voice needs to seduce.

“In a tale of woe, the readers should fall in love with the characters and feel the pain of loss as if it were their own. The reader should not be happy when the characters finally off themselves, which was an emotion I experienced on reaching the conclusion of your paper.” Graham raised a brow.

Iowa pushed up on his elbows, his sweat-slick hair sticking to his forehead and temples. He looked too damn sexy for words. Graham’s hands tingled to touch him all over again. This wasn’t good. He needed perspective. He needed to go.

“Running?” Iowa asked.

Graham threw his legs over the side of the bed. “More like speed walking. I shouldn’t have let this happen.”

“Let it happen?” Iowa snickered. “Oh, yeah. You control all the forces of nature, Doctor. I could have said no.”

The soft caress of fingertips along his spine caused a shiver. Graham peered over his shoulder. Teasing blue eyes met his, so unlike the ones filled with painful vulnerability from before their sweaty therapy session. The man could be so fucking sweet, intelligent, curious, and funny. “Who are you, Iowa?”

“A state with a lot of corn.”

Graham stood, picked up a pillow, and threw it at Iowa, smacking him right in his smug face. “Cute.”

“You’re the one who insists on calling me that.” Iowa moved off the bed and to his feet, doing a full-body stretch.

“I can feel how much you want me.” Spencer took a step he thought he never would. It was time for him to be the aggressor. He spun them and pressed Graham to the wall next to the window, clasping Graham’s wrists. Graham’s head jerked up, his brown eyes wide. “Just be lost with me,” Spencer rasped, capturing Graham’s lips in a kiss full of suppressed longing and fierce lust.

Graham moaned into the kiss, his muscles flexing in Spencer’s grasp.

So many more complications muddied the surface; warning bells clanged in his head. But the gnawing ache of lust was painful, and the simmering need in Iowa’s eyes only fed it. With a groan of defeat, he nuzzled Iowa’s neck, giving in to his cravings. He knew he shouldn’t, but much like starting the night off drinking too much top-shelf scotch, he couldn’t help but indulge in a desire that would lead to a horrible hangover of regret.
“Graham,” Iowa rasped. “Please.”
One of Iowa’s hands had found its way under his shirt, and the rough touch of those fingertips across his skin had all of Graham’s remaining reservations crumbling.

“You’re giving off some mixed signals with your silence, hon.”

The touch of fingers along his back had him tensing with need but chained by confusion. He bit his lip to hold in whatever whimpered plea might have escaped. He’d spent years suppressing his sexual nature, so the tendency toward silence was automatic by now. It was far more difficult to make himself let out noise of any kind, much less anything intelligible.

“I may be a lot of things, but I don’t seduce unwilling men.” Ebony’s soft caress left his body, and Spencer swayed toward the touch.

“Stay,” Spencer whispered before he could rethink the word, but he knew he meant it. Whatever Ebony had to offer him, his body sure as hell wanted…needed.

The warmth of Ebony’s body caged him in the small space, like a furnace. The click of the lock being set into place had his heart speeding. What am I doing?

“And what would you have me do?” Ebony murmured, pressing close enough Spencer could feel the definite outline of a hard-on against his ass. “With you all alone in here?”

Spencer wished he’d had time to read a book on bathroom hookups, or maybe watched more porn. “I have no idea.”

Excerpt- Firehouse Six, book 6

b79775e7406e409432897ed432b26769

The jarring sound of his cell phone ringing tore into Gavin’s peaceful sleep and he squinted one eye open to stare at the bright green numbers next to his bed that reatd, two-twenty-five am. Nothing good ever happened after two o’clock in the morning. Groaning he flipped over onto his back, reaching blindly for his phone with one hand, while trying to scrub the sleep from his eyes with the other.

Yawning, he answered the blaring contraption in the middle of yawn, “’ello?”

“Can you come get me?” The voice on the other end of the line was soft, defeated.

He pulled the phone away from his ear and glanced at it, he didn’t recognize the number. “Who is this?”

“Cole.”

Gavin blinked a couple of times, opening his eyes wider, shuffling to a seated position against his headboard. Cole Winters. A twenty-one year old bane of his existence.

“What happened to your car?” Gavin threw his legs over the side of his bed, setting his phone back on his nightstand on speaker.

“It kind of got towed.”

“And money for a cab?” Gavin snagged a shirt off the floor, sniffed it, and then pulled it on. He really needed to do laundry.

“I lost my wallet,” the sentence came out in a low murmur that Gavin barely picked up.

Gavin shook his head and jerked on his jeans before sitting down to put on his shoes with a resigned sigh. “And I was the first person you called?”

“Yes.”

Gavin shrugged into his jacket then grabbed his wallet and keys. “Why not your brother or Aaron?”

“They’re asleep.”

“I was asleep,” Gavin snapped. Picking up the phone, he took it off speaker and stalked out of the room. “You know, like a normal person on a Thursday night after two am.”

“Please, Gavin,” Cole’s voice held a desperate quality that called out to the knight in shining armor that lived inside Gavin.

One of these days Gavin was going to find that little metal clad bastard and strangle him, because he needed to sleep and Cole was taking advantage of his weakness. There was a time for saving people and a time for letting them learn a lesson, by freezing their ass off in the chilly Northwest fall weather. Now should be a time for teaching. Stupid savior complex.

“Gavin,” Cole prodded. “I’ll owe you one.”

“You already owe me enough to buy your soul.” Gavin strode through his home and opened the door to the brisk night air. “Stop your groveling. I’m on my way. Just give me an address.”

A squeal met his answer. “You are the most awesome man I’ve never slept with.”

Gavin snorted. “Well, there’s a tagline.”

“I’m at the gas station a block from Scandal.”

“Of course you are.” Gavin unlocked his black Rav 4 and climbed in. “Isn’t it a school night?”

“No. Do you want a list of my classes…Dad?” Cole replied, sarcasm practically dripped off the last word.

“Hardy, har, har.” The engine roared to life and he backed out onto the street, making his way to save the ungrateful little twit. “I don’t want that responsibility. I’ll be there in five minutes, watch for me.”

“Yes, oh mighty one.”

Cole hung up before Gavin could get in a response. Clutching the steering wheel he counted to ten and took a deep breath. Why he let Cole get to him, he had no idea and why he continued to help him baffled him more still.

The pale yellow lights of the gas station came into view and he pulled in glancing around but no waif of an evil sleep-stealing demon ran amok in the parking lot. Instead a lump shaped Cole pushed away from the brick wall and stepped through the curtain of shadows into the light. Cole’s normally perfectly styled spiked locks were flattened and slicked back with the misting rain. His pale skin appeared even more like ivory with the sheen of water and droplets slipping from his hair along his temples. All in all, he was soaked. A grin curved Cole’s lips as he gave a little wave, seemingly undeterred by the icy shower he was in.

The man was crazy. He had to be freezing. Gavin could make out the black fabric that clung like a wet second skin, and the jeans were equally drenched. Gavin wondered if the black leather boots were filled with reservoir of water. Wow. If this was what clubbing looked like, he was happy he’d missed out.

Running a hand over his face he fought a smile, he couldn’t help the end thought that swept in. Cole did manage to look adorable, in a drowned puppy kind of way.
